It's Resolution Time . . . .

Happy New Year! I've never been that great with New Year's Resolutions. Maybe because they always seem to be about losing weight?? Well, I'm getting a little wiser and smarter, and I'm changing up my New Year's Resolutions. I thought I would share a few of my goals for the new year.

NEW OPPORTUNITIES: I need to find a new job. This one is #1 on my list. I work during the day for the state of Texas. Lets just say that it's taking its toll on me. I would LOVE to find something that had to do with being creative. I think I have figured out the two primary keys to having a happy life. The first, to Marry the one you love, who loves and cherishes you in return. The second, to do what you love. I'm lucky to have the first one but I'm not doing what I love. This year I would love to find a job that I can be creative on a daily basis and makes me excited to get up in the morning. I'm on the hunt!

BLOGGING: Its been almost a year since I started Ela's Smile. YAY! I think this is only the second time that I've stuck with my New Year's Resolution (first one was reading 100 books in a year). This year I want to try to blog a little more. I've been blogging lately less than once a week. No bueno. The blogs that I love to follow post often, with great pictures, creative DIY projects and bring inspiration. This year my goal is to blog more, with pretty pictures, personal thoughts and hopefully provide a little inspiration.

TRAVEL: I always feel so refreshed and renewed after a vacation. I always think during the vacation, Why don't we do this more often? Even if it's just a little extended weekend trip, Jeff and I need to get away. We live in Texas with great little and large cities only a few hours away. So this year I want to plan more get aways for Jeff and I to reconnect and have some fun!

GET THIS HOUSE DONE!: We have slowly but surely been remodeling our house for the past two years. We have come a long way with it but there is still two bathrooms, a laundry room, yard and part of the kitchen that still needs to be done. There is only so much dust and half way done projects a girl can take. I've become to think it's normal to have paint brushes laying next to your hair brushes in the bathroom. This year we can hopefully wrap up some of these projects.

TAKE SOME CLASSES: My wonderful husband bought me the sewing machine that I've been wanting for Christmas. I've gotten by with sewing a few things by hand but after sewing some curtains together by hand, well, I was wishing I had a sewing machine so that things could go a little faster. Now that I have a sewing machine I need to learn how to properly use it. This year I want to take a sewing class and a few photography classes that I've been wanting to take.

LASTLY, GET FIT: I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to add this one but unfortunately I really need to. I will stay away from the french fries. I will stay away from the chips and salsa. I will stay away from the cookies and cream ice cream. . . . well, at least a little less. I'm embarrassed to say I'm not quite sure when the last time it was that I worked out. Shame, shame, shame! I had a great workout routine before I moved to Texas and now I need to find a new one. This year I'm dedicated to finding that new routine.

Well there you have it. Bring on the New Year! What are some of your New Year's Resolutions?

  1. Hi ELA! I think when I found your blog last year, you had resolved to be more creative....I think your projects you posted in 2011 were very creative. I adore those photos you and your husband did that were compositions on the floor. I hope you find a job this year where you can express your creativity more. Good luck in all your endeavors.
